Summer 2023

The CEO Search Is On!

We are proud to announce that we are hiring a founding Chief Executive Officer to guide the Public Bank East Bay through the business plan and charter application process. Check out the background on this position and the job qualifications. We are the first public banking organization in California to take this step.

If you are a potential candidate, or you know one or more, we want to hear from you. Details on how to apply are in the job description; all applications go through our recruiting partner, Marcum Nonprofit & Social Sector.

Friends of the Public Bank East Bay is an equal opportunity employer to all, regardless of age, ancestry, color, disability (mental and physical), exercising the right to family care and medical leave, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, military or veteran status, national origin, political affiliation, race, religious creed, sex (includes pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and related medical conditions, and sexual orientation).

What Else Is Happening?

  • As discussed in last month's newsletter, we now have viability study approval from the cities of Berkeley, Oakland, and Richmond, and are working on the logistics to bring everyone to the table to start crafting the nuts and bolts of corporate structure and capitalization.

  • After a long and thoughtful negotiation, we are thrilled to announce the formal support of the East Oakland Black Cultural Zone.

  • Our slate of Bank Board Candidates is active and working with our banking attorney on developing the business plan. The CEO has to be in place before the plan is submitted to the regulators.

  • And much more.
